The 31 blankets are now on sale at the RSPCA shop in the top of town! Get them quick they are selling like hot cakes. Upcycled by local group Audleys from the squares of yarn that covered Market Square during the festival, the blankets will now be sold to raise money for the animal charity with the remainder used to keep rescue animals warm this winter.
Cabinet Member for Partnerships Cllr Cathy Osselton joined us for the handover today. Cllr Osselton said: “This year’s Basingstoke Festival might be over but I am so pleased it is still benefiting the community. The Yarn Storm was a wonderful addition to the Top of the Town and it is fitting that the blankets are being donated to a shop so close to where it took place. I look forward to seeing other innovative ideas residents come up with as part of the festival in the future.”
Again, thank you very much to everyone who took part in this year's Yarn Storm, it's been great fun and wonderful to help such a worthwhile cause. To be involved in the 2014 Yarn Storm keep checking in, we will soon have the pages up and running.
